MOUNTAIN IN MOUNTAIN, Monumental Sculpture on water feature, 10 meter diameter, mixed media, 2018 by Samues Leung

Is “mountain” a space or an object? Mountain is a kind of existence to feel through distance. The sculpture is made of metal, stone and dead wood elements. It is installed in the water. The fire owed to Wuhengzhong comes from the sun reflected on the mirror steel surface or the light in the pool water. The whole sculpture reflects mountains from … Continue reading MOUNTAIN IN MOUNTAIN, Monumental Sculpture on water feature, 10 meter diameter, mixed media, 2018 by Samues Leung

2017 new work for the Grade-show (8-18 sept 2017) Pao Gallery/HK Arts Center

I attempted to use brass wire as the main materials to develop a series of linear sculptures. The feature sculptures are entitled 1) The Man Story; 2) The Seed Story and the remaining part of the sculptures, 3) The Present that are all included in this “Memories of Shadows” series. In the set-up of these site-specific installations with lighting, different shadows will be reflected on the walls at the back of the sculptures. They will be viewed in a holistic perspective of “Memories of Shadows” including the viewers’ shadows. Continue reading 2017 new work for the Grade-show (8-18 sept 2017) Pao Gallery/HK Arts Center

LINE ON BOARD, Exhibition in 3331 Art Chiyoda, Chiyoda, Tokyo 17-20 Oct 2016

This exhibition focuses on lines. Time and the journey of life itself is a line. I try to capture the moments when people are basking in sunset, enjoying their life or even grasping a fleeting image. I always like to experiment with new materials while exploring opportunities to create works with greater artistic impacts than ordinary paintings on canvas. In this exhibition, I use cardboard collected from the streets during my stay in Japan and put lines in them, both physically and conceptually. These paintings and sculptures made of … Continue reading LINE ON BOARD, Exhibition in 3331 Art Chiyoda, Chiyoda, Tokyo 17-20 Oct 2016

Long Diary, drawing and collage on canvas, 400cm x 100cm, 2016

I have created this expansive canvas piece to reflect my vivid memories of my residency in Tokyo, which took place from mid-July to the end of August in 2016. It encompasses various aspects such as my sightseeing adventures, architectural wonders, iconic landmarks, and even my beloved Japanese cartoons. To add depth and diversity to the artwork, I extended an invitation to Japanese children and fellow … Continue reading Long Diary, drawing and collage on canvas, 400cm x 100cm, 2016
