Authenticity – Love, Group Exhibition

2026 Nov 18-22, Pao Gallery, 5/F Hong Kong Arts Center, Harbour Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong

Hong Kong — Authenticity · Love, a group exhibition by Hong Kong artists Samues Leung, Kate Padget-Koh and Daisy Chan, is a celebration of different beliefs, perspectives and ways of creating, brought together in one space filled with creativity, connection and love. Through conceptual art, painting and sculpture, the three artists explore intimacy, cultural identity, memory, faith, commitment and the expectations that shape our relationships.

The dot between “Authenticity” and “Love” is deliberate. The dot gives each concept its own weight. Authenticity is not presented simply as a component of love, nor is love treated as the automatic result of being authentic. Instead, the separation invites reflection on their relationship. In a society where relationships can be closely tied to expectations of family, belonging and conformity, the exhibition invites audiences to reconsider what love means — and whether our deepest connections are grounded in genuine affection or shaped by social expectations.

Samues Leung — Love and the Fragility of Promises
Conceptual artist Samues Leung explores the impermanence of love through the familiar symbol of lovers’ locks. Inspired by couples attaching metal locks to bridges as promises of commitment, Leung combines old iron locks with delicate copper wire to reflect the contrast between the apparent permanence of a promise and the fragility of human relationships. His work asks what happens to love, memory and commitment as time passes.

“Although the physical iron lock itself is extremely hard, the expectations of lovers may quietly fade over time, and promises may be forgotten in the past.”
