“Walking in Noyers sur Serein ” Exhibits snapshot

Ink Drawing on Japanese sketchbook, 16 cmx 300cm, 2025

In 2024, I spent five weeks as an artist in residence in the ancient village of Noyers-sur-Serein, France. I drew a series of street scenes that reveal the town from multiple perspectives, and I am delighted to have had the opportunity to savor its beauty through my practice. This marks my second residency, during which I deepened my attention to the village as I wandered its corners and discovered an abundance of artistic decoration decorating historic façades.

Over the course of my stay, I created 26 drawings in my favorite medium: a foldable Japanese sketchbook I brought from Kyoto. These works capture the intimate dialogue between old stone, light, and daily life, reframing familiar streets as sites of quiet wonder.

Presented at La Porte Peinte Art Center, this exhibition invites viewers to roam freely through the 26 drawings. I hope to convey the village’s beauty, its culture, and its tranquil atmosphere, inviting a shared moment of reflection and connection with a place where history and present-day life softly intersect.
